Childhood Moments
A 100-word story
Sept 20201 min read3 views

After telling Alicia a bedtime story, Mark kisses her goodnight. “Dad, wait,” Alicia says before he leaves. “I don’t need my night light anymore.” “You sure?” “I’m a big girl now.” Alicia grins, revealing some missing teeth. Mark smiles. “Alright then.” He turns off the night light, but moments after he leaves, Alicia screams. Rushing back, he finds her buried beneath the duvet. “What’s wrong, dear?” he asks. “It’s too dark!” “But you said—” “I’ll be a big girl tomorrow.” Mark chuckles and turns the night light back on. Moments like this make him wish children never grew up.
